112922N Oslo Universitetssykehus Blantyre Oslo Surgical and Critical Care Exchange 2023 - 2028
112922N Oslo Universitetssykehus Blantyre Oslo Surgical and Critical Care Exchange 2023 - 2028
  • Description:This project supports the exchange of health personnel between Oslo University Hospital (OUH) in Norway and Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Malawi to strengthen neurosurgery, paediatric surgery, anaesthesia, and intensive care services. The partnership aims to improve leadership, use of medical equipment, and patient care, especially for children undergoing surgery. Malawi faces a severe shortage of surgeons and anaesthesiologists, and this project helps train staff to close that gap. Norwegian participants gain experience treating conditions rare in Norway but common in Malawi, enhancing their skills and cultural understanding. The project contributes to safer, more effective surgical care for Malawi’s young population while building valuable expertise for health workers in both countries.
